Focus: Song Discussion/Aims and targets for the brief and overall project

Aims:
- To produce an effective modern music video which fits the criteria of the brief
- For our music video to be unusual, and draw in the target audience

Possible songs:
Song for Clay - Bloc Party (Paul)
Patins - CSS (Zoe)

Song 1: Bloc Party
Pros
- Easy song to fit different styles of video to (ie narrative- or performance-based)
- Good rhythm

Cons
- Lyrics are hard to understand
- Too heavy/rocky - we believe this genre has too many conventions, and so we wouldn't be able to construct an obscure narrative, which was one of our aims

Song 2: CSS
Pros
- Unusual song and different style - allows us to comply with our aim of producing a more unusual and obscure video
- Lack of conventions for genre allows originality and creativity

Cons
- Focus isn't on the lyrics

End Result
We decided that, as one member of the group didn't like the CSS song and another member of the group didn't like the Bloc Party song, we would say no to both for now and try to think of some other possibilities which would appeal more to all members of the group
